Maoping Port Guide 2024

In the whole year of 2020, Maoping Port (茅坪码头) in Zigui County (秭归县) will serve Yangtze River cruise travelers for disembarkation on the 4th day of a downstream cruise and embarkation on the 1st day of an upstream cruise.

All the cruise company - Century Cruises, Victoria Cruises, President Cruises, Yangtze Gold Cruises, Changjiang Cruises (except Yangtze 1 using Sandouping Port), will use Maoping Port for embarkation and disembarkation. Yichang New Century Port (新世纪码头) is stopped using this year.

How to Get to Maoping Port for Upstream Cruise?

Maoping Port, also called Zigui Port (秭归港) is located at 200 meters east from Binhu Road, Zigui County, Yichang City (宜昌市秭归县滨湖路东200米). It is about 55-60km driving distance away from Yichang downtown and needs about 70-90 minutes to arrive. Please pay attention to the location and check the gathering time, place for embarkation.

Taking Tourist Buses Arranged by Cruise Companies

For travelers booking a Yichang to Chongqing upstream Yangtze River cruise tour from us, the cruise companies will take the responsibility to take you from Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal in Yichang Downtown to Maoping Port to board the ship. The bus usually drives for 1 to 1.5 hours. (Flight / train booking tips: if you would arrive in Yichang on the embarkation day, we advise you book a flight arriving in Yichang before 17:00 or a train arriving before 18:00.)

Warm Tips of Gathering Time: Bus schedule varies in peak and off seasons. They usually run every 0.5 hour during 16:00-21:00 during peak season (middle March to end of November), and 0.5-1 hour during 19:00-21:00 during off season (December to early March). To avoid waiting for the bus for too long time, you are suggested to gather at Visitor Center of Three Gorges Tourist Resort (Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal) or Yichang East Railway Station during 17:30-19:00.

How to Take the Tourist Buses from Visitor Center of Three Gorges Tourist Resort to Maoping Port

If you are planning to get to Yichang by flight, want to do a city tour in Yichang downtown area, or arrive in Yichang early by train, the Visitor Center of Three Gorges Tourist Resort with better environment will be a better choice to catch the tourist bus to Maoping Port.

How to Take the Tourist Buses from Yichang East Railway Station to Maoping Port

If you take a train to Yichang, nearby Yichang East Railway Station, you can find the tourist bus arranged by the cruise company heading to Maoping Port. Please follow those steps to know how to take the bus at Yichang East Railway Station after your arrival in Yichang.

Yichang Tourist Information Centre | Luxury cruise transfer, Chengdong Avenue, No. 104, B1 Floor, Parking Building, Yichang East Station (宜昌东站停车楼B1层B1-104号).

1.Follow other passengers to exit the station;
2.Find a glass house called the Yichang Tourist Information Center; Don’t walk in. Turn right and go straight along the taxi passage trail to the end;
3.Passing the zebra crossing, you will see the ground-floor office - Yichang Tourist Information Centre | Luxury cruise transfer;
4.Show your Passport / ID Card to issue the shuttle bus ticket at the information desk;
5.The staff will uniformly lead guests to the bus parking lot to take a shuttle bus to the cruise terminal.

Important Embarkation Tips:

1. About Luggage: visitors could take the tourist bus with your luggage. Also, you can choose the luggage service, the cruise staff would transfer it from the gathering place to the front desk onboard your ship. Such service needs reasonable extra payment of about 15RMB/piece.

2. Please make sure to take the bus to Maoping Port on time, and if you miss it, contact us at once!

How to Get to Yichang from Maoping Port for Downstream Cruise

On the disembarkation day of a downstream cruise from Chongqing to Yichang, you will leave your ship with your luggage in the early morning at Maoping Port. Then, you'll begin your Three Gorges Dam tour or Ship Lift experience before transferring to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal for departure.

(Flight / train booking tips: if you would leave Yichang on the disembarkation day, we advise you book a flight departing after 16:00 or a train departing after 15:30.)

Luggage Consigning for Yichang Disembarkation Guests

For the national policy about the security of the Three Gorges Dam Project, no large luggage (exceeding 20cm*40cm*50cm or 5kg) is allowed to be taken into Three Gorges Dam scenic area. You could consign your luggage to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal and get the luggage consigning document from the cruise staff on the 4th cruising day morning and gather it after you are in Yichang downtown by showing that document. The service is offered by the cruise company and needs extra charge of 25RMB for each piece of luggage.

Transfer from Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal to Airport / Train Station

After you dismiss at Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal, you can transfer to Yichang East Railway Station to catch your train or to Yichang Sanxia Airport to board on your flight easily. You can go by local taxi for a smooth and convenient transfer. Besides, you can also take local buses, which would take much more time and effort to find the way. Thank you for the message. Drinks (like whisky, water, etc.) and food are allowed to bring to the cruise, and you can enjoy it during your moment on the ship. However, it is not allowed to bring your own drinks and food to the dining halls or bars on your ship.

Good morning. Can you please advise what shops are st the Yichang port if we want to purchase drinks before the cruise?
Also is WIFI available on Gold 6 and can Facebook be used in China?

Thank you for the good question. As Yangtze Gold 6 cruise ship arranges Maoping Port for the embarkation and disembarkation in Yichang City, and the location of the port is not at the downtown area, there may be a few small shops for you to buy some drinks. Besides, if you like, you could buy in some larger supermarkets in the downtown of Yichang. if you arrive in Yichang by train, you could buy at Yichang East Railway Station, where provide a lot of drink options.

However, as there are many kinds of drinks including soft drinks, wines, liquor, juicy, etc., you could also enjoy your drinking time in the bar onboard.

For Wi-Fi, the cruise ship offers such kind of service, and usually charge 200RMB for one whole cruise and 100RMB/day. You could tell the staff at the reception desk, and they would help you link with the Internet with sincerity. However, as the Internet in China is not accessible to other countries, you could use Facebook only if you have a VPN in your device.
