How’s the service of the tour guides during your whole tour? The two guides were good. My guide in Chongqing was terrific and deserves special mention. I wanted to visit the old 18 Steps neighborhood with is undergoing redevelopment and made it happen. I wanted a traditional Hotpot dinner before the cruise and she made that happen too---without another tourist in sight.

Would you like to recommend our company? I would highly recommend your company and I will use you again on Chinese travel matters.

We had a good time in Kunming and Chongqing. The guides and drivers were very good. By the time I contacted you, it was just before the trip and one area was not covered regarding Chongqing but all went well no matter what. The guides were able to accommodate us all the way. We took probably 1,000 pictures but have not loaded them yet and cannot do so now as all we have is an IPad, and we used a camera for almost everything.

I do not have many immediate suggestions and we would be happy to recommend your services to anyone else. We found a restaurant on Green Lake in Kunming which was superior to the one recommended by your company. We showed Flavie, our guide and she should be able to inform you. Again regarding food, when we went to lunch, the quantity of food was usually 2X what we could have eaten. For a large group, there is no problem, I am sure but for 2 or 3 people, I suggest, the guides ask what and how much people would prefer. We personally would like to eat with the guides as that is a good time to get to know them better. As so few people, even in the hotels, speak reasonably good English, a guide is essential though certainly one could travel to the sights by oneself, it would be challenging so services like yours are needed most of the time.

You may use my comments as you wish. Ask me in a month and we should have photos uploaded when we are home to send you. Flavie took several of us in various places which she may be willing to share as well.

Our room was very comfortable with lots of room.

The food at all meals was very good.

We got wifi which was nice and VIP service.

The shore excursions to the Three Gorges Dam, the ferry on the river and the walk to the red pagoda were all very good and interesting.

Overall, it was an excellent trip.

Sorry to not get back to you sooner. We are in Australia now, and my son-in-law has been in hospital until a few days ago, so no time for emails. I do want to say thank you again for your great service in arranging our tour, transfers and train tickets for us. I will definitely recommend your company to others who are looking to book a tour.

The tour itself was good. The scenery is spectacular. The crew of the ship are very accommodating and helpful. There were very few English speaking passengers on this particular tour, but we made friends with everyone via a few exchanged words, and gestures. The food was average. One thing I would let people know if booking the VIP floor and restaurant, there is a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant as the elevator only goes to the 5th floor and the restaurant is on the 6th. This could pose a problem for anyone who has problems with stairs. The out trips were worth while, but I would have appreciated a little more time at the end of each one for souvenir shopping.

Our car transfers that you arranged were all good and with good English skills as well. You have been very efficient and diligent in your job as travel consultant and I very much appreciate it. Thanks you. Sincerely;

We are back home in Australia now.

The cruise was great. Wonderful scenery, interesting sights and a well organised ship. We were especially happy with the service received from the on board guide, Elissa, who made sure that we knew and understood what was going on and having English speaking guides at each of the side trips made the cruise all the more enjoyable and interesting. The accommodation was quite satisfactory and as expected. Service was good and we found the beds quite comfortable which was not our experience in many of the hotels where the beds were extremely firm to rock hard. The cabin temperature was a little to hot but with the ability to leave the balcony doors open, we were able to have a comfortable nights sleep.

Many thanks for your effort in arranging the cruise for us and keeping us informed.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Yangtze River Cruises and Yangtze Gold Cruise vessels to others.

Back home we are enjoying long hours of Bernadette’s video and wondering at the thousands of photo’s shot during our wonderful tour.

It was indeed a wonderful tour. Wendy and her senior management are to be congratulated.

The development stage was perfect and during the tour Wendy duly followed us up. When a flight was cancelled you rebooked the hotel and guide.

All the guides were far above standard.

• We like to mention that Jason not only brought us to the Beijing station but arranged to come with us in the wagon, taking care of our luggage.

• When the available time to visit Dazu was reduced to one day only, Charlie helped us to enjoy the rock sculptures. At the end of that day be came with us on the cruise boat making sure that checking in was going smoothly.

• Ellen picked us up in Hangzhou and was there all the time to meet all our questions and needs. At the end Bernadette called her no longer Ellen but “Chi May” with her real and Chinese name!

All the planes and trains were booked, not a single problem when boarding. Just showing our passport … and please proceed, hurry up!

We stayed in two very special hotels. The Imperial Palace in Chengde is a jewel with rosewood furniture. An exceptional design. The JR suite in Pingyao was like living in heaven on earth.

It was good that we booked the Shangri La’s and Hyatt’s ourselves. You understood. We were indeed most of the time upgraded and enjoyed an “imperial service” in the Shangri La, well in Shangri La! That was helpful when the flight was cancelled.

We are very sorry not being able to help you with Trip Advisor. We are in a circle of friends travelling a lot but none of us ever speaks to Trip Advisor. In Belgium it is imperative to keep private things indeed private. We are not to be found on Facebook either.

We remain however available to your senior management to clarify all questions they might want to formulate. Please pass them a copy of this e mail. They should know they are running a solid organisation yielding satisfied tourists.

It was sheer perfection!

Your arrangements are perfect, beyond much of my expectation from a Chinese agent who I had never known of.

For the cruise, generally is fine. However, there couple of points to mention :

1. The foods throughout the trip are not to the standard comparable any luxury cruises I took before, particularly at this price.

2. The cruise should have provided dinner during the first night and lunch or at least snacks on the last day.

Besides the foods, we enjoyed the trip.

Yes, I have no complaints about the agent, Yangtze River Cruises. Stephanie was very attentive dealing with changes to planned room bookings. The deposit and balance requested and paid smoothly.

The tour guides were fine. The ship guide made sure everyone knew what was happening and being in the right location at the right time. Standard of english was good. The food might be improved a little.

Extra feedback for Stephanie:

I only managed to read your very useful email on where the boat would sail from (pier 2 at Chongquin) after I returned to the UK because 'hotmail' emails get blocked by hotmail when you are away from your home. I hadn't realised.

If you have western customers booking cruises/ tours using 'hotmail' accounts, you might warn them that once they get away from their home country, they will not be able to access their accounts because of hotmail's remote access restriction.

This is no criticism of Yangtze River Cruises. You could ask people for a second email address in case their primary email address gets blocked and copy with both email addresses.You might suggest this only after they have booked but before they have left because you wouldn't want anything to stop them booking.

We have just arrived back in NZ after a great trip, we were really pleased with the way your itinerary worked out.

Everything on the trip went very well, we were met at every airport by the guide without any delay. Most guides were great.

The hotels in Shanghai and Xian were very good.

The cruise was a nice relaxing break after the visit to Shanghai, the boat was great.

All the food during the trip was nice, again especially the lunches in Xian.

The time in Yancheng also went well, we did not need a guide there because our daughter Claire has been living there for 18 months so she knew her way around. There was however a long delay in the flight from Yancheng to Shanghai so we nearly missed our connection back to NZ - it all worked out on the end.

Thanks again for your great work in arranging everything. We had a very memorable trip and wouldn't hesitate in using your service again if we come back to China or to recommend you to any friends who want to visit.

Dear Wonder,

We just got back home from the journey. We arrived at Incheon airport last night however, couldn't get on the bus to Daejeon because of no ticket available. We stayed in Seoul overnight and took bus to Daejeon this morning.

your responses to my questions were really fast and I got all the necessary informations right away. No complaint what so ever.

The cruise was very good. Scenery was fantastic, the Sanxia Dam was overwhelming and weather was very cooperative throughout the cruises. Food was OK. We had met wonderful people at the dining table, Germans, American, Pueto Ricans, and Britishes on the downstream cruise. On the up stream cruise, we had all German guests at the table, and majority of the cruise guests were Chineses. Overall it was a good experience and we will remember for a long time.

I hardly take pictures nowadays. I used to have several cameras and enjoyed to take pictures. But after the digital camera and smart phone were invented, I don't care about picture taking any more. I am not keen about SNS either.

Our consultant, Johnson, was quick with responses and generous with his time. He provided lots of good insight as to what we might expect during a busy travel week in China, as well as how to mitigate the crowds.

The tour was excellent all around and well-documented support made it easy to enjoy our trip.

I would certainly recommend Yangtze River Cruises to anyone who would like to visit China and who would prefer the details be smoothed out ahead of their trip. The consultant (Johnson) was skillful at predicting areas of possible difficulty, then offering a soup-to-nuts solution making our trip a breeze. We had three generations on this trip and everyone had a terrific time. Additionally, during the busy travel time of "Golden Week", the limited passenger count of a riverboat was a nice way to keep our kids and their grandmother from being overrun by crowds.

Yangtze River Cruises seems to have this trip style down pat. Not only is the information on the website thorough, the consultant also knew what additional questions to ask and was ready with solutions when we needed anything out of the ordinary.

Our experience of the cruise was brilliant from the time we stepped onto Victoria Jenna till we left. Special mention of gratitude to Dr. Li who went out of his way to accompany me to hospital when I had an unfortunate accident and ensured I had received the care I needed. I cannot imagine how events would have turned out without Dr. Li's help.

The route of the cruise was well planned and the shore excursions were well organised in small groups.

The service on board the Jenna was excellent. From the food and beverage to house keeping and entertainment. We could not fault a thing.

The river guides were very knowledgable and provided valuable insights about the local area and history.

All my needs were adequately met so I can only say Victoria Cruises should keep doing a great job.

Everything went well on the cruise. I am glad we took the time to do that trip between busy days in Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing. The cruise was as expected and we had no problems. Food was good, ship was very clean, service was good, tours from ship were good, etc.

The taxi driver who took us from the airport to the dock in Chongqing did not know where he was going but stopped to get directions. After the cruise we stayed at the Crown Plaza in Yichang and flew to Beijing the next day. No problems.

You were most helpful and I would certainly recommend you to others.

Hi Rita:

We have returned from our trip to China and I want to provide you with just a few comments. Overall, we had a good time without any problems. We enjoyed seeing all the sites and being on a "private" tour. We didn't have to wait for other people and were driven close to the entrance of all the sites.

We liked all the guides (Linda, Waldner, Steven, Diana, Frank and Frank). We liked Steven the best because he was very calm, patient and spoke English well. The drivers were also good. The driver who only drove us back to the hotel from Disney was professional and had a nice car - we wish we had him the entire time in Shanghai.

We did like that all the drivers had bottled water for us. Mr Tang (driver with Linda) was especially prepared with kleenex, wipes and candy - very nice!

We liked some of the meals that the tour provided, but would have liked more input, possibly tasting more "local" types of dishes and not dishes that all the tourists enjoy. I could eat similar dishes at home.

We enjoyed the cruise and were pleased with the arrangements.

We were also very pleased with all the hotels that we stayed in. Good locations and easy to walk to restaurants for dinner.

Thank you for making our vacation a very enjoyable one. We definitely liked learning about Chinese history and culture.

Booking for cruise was fine.

Information that would be useful to us will be the upgrade info that was offered and optional dinner on first nite when no included.

We did end up upgrading to higher floor and also the meal package. However as we only knew about the package and cost on checkin, there was limited options for the room /floor selection.

They were very nice to take care of us when we told them we were celebrating our 18th anniversary. They sent a cake to our table at dinner - unexpected surprise and lovely gesture. When we cruise in the US, usually we get wine at table. Since our upgraded meal included wine, the cake was very nice as we could share with other guests and make new friends.

Yes, I would recommend your service to our friends traveling to China.

The cruise by the President no. 8 was beautiful and very good arranged.

First of all a compliment special for you, the payment was difficult but you had all understanding and did a good job..

We had a good cabin, very good service everywhere, sitting on a table for 2 for lunch/dinner, interesting excursions, english speaking on board and on the excursions. In short it was perfect.

But what a difference with the year 1983!

We are very glad that we have been on the ferry and see the Yangtze river then. Yoy can not compare.

The romantic and simplicity was so nice. Complete different people and towns.

Of course that will never come back. The change in China within 30 years is the same as the change in our country in 90 years.

We have had a marvellous time, also thanks to you.

Arrived this morning in Xian for three days.

We had a wonderful time on the Yangtze River cruise... Full on during the day and enjoyable show at night. Few of their crew was looking lovely .. Aurora and Taylor always have a beautiful smile when they greet us.

The day tour in Yichang was good. My husband loved the sturgeon park. The tour guide - coffee is recommendable. Very nice gentleman.

The wall was tremendously enjoyable .. We walked for four hours and Tour guide - Echo was very helpful.

I am sorry I have taken so long to write. June and I did not return to Canberra until 18th and since then until today I have had a problem with my computer. We had a wonderful cruise. Everything went well and we enjoyed all we saw and learned about that amazing 3 Gorges project. We enjoyed the cruise and found the crew all helpful and friendly. Yes there was a small delay at Yichang but that did not matter. We were well cared for by the cruise Director and Hotel Manager on the ship until our transport arrived. They also spoke to you. We were not put out or worried about that short delay. Thank you so much for your organization of our cruise and for the transport connections. Our visit to Shanghai also went well and we have had a lovely holiday.

The river guide on the ship was excellent. Oscar spoke good English was engaging with the passengers and very helpful in understanding the local conditions and the sights.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the Yangtze River cruise from Chongquin Shanghai to anyone wanting to see China from a different perspective. The on-board facilities, food and service were great and the range and variety of shore excursions was just the right mix. Overall a wonderful 7 days.

Our travel agent, Johnson Wang, incredibly helpful in answering any and all of our questions. We had many questions in regards to everything about this cruise. We were unsure of our dates and being assured there was english speaking and also to be sure that we had a room with a double bed. He immediately walked us through every question and had the best possible solutions for all of our concerns. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

All arrangements were made to exceed our expectations. Right down to an english guide at the end and first class train tickets to return.

How are you today?

We are back home now after a very rewarding trip to China. We did not know what to expect being first time visitors to China.

Everything went smoothly for us and main highlight was the trip down the Yangtze River. We were expecting a laid back relaxing time on Yangtze Gold 3, but it was far from it.

Plenty of entertainment, and we took part in all the included shore excursions. In spite of the more than adequate buffet style meals I actually shed some weight in spite of my voracious appetite, due to the more than usual exercise.

The ride on the Bullet train from Yichang to Beijing was literally a blast. What an experience that was! I could quite easily repeat this trip but more likely visit other attractions as China has so much to offer.

Bertina I wish to thank you dearly for all the assistance you gave us on this trip. My only regret was that I never went to Chengdu to thank you personally. Perhaps next time!

We really enjoyed our Yangtze Cruise on Victoria Anna. The boat was really good – not too crowded and the rooms were clean and comfortable with nice big glass doors to see the views. The included activities were fun, and we also enjoyed going ashore on our own when we could despite being told in the daily notes that we couldn’t! We enjoyed meeting the other guests seated at our table, and the food was plentiful and pleasant. We were lucky with the weather – although it was quite hot, it didn’t actually rain during our trip. It was great being able to sit out on the covered deck in front of the Yangtze Club and watch the passage through the gorges with a nice breeze blowing to keep us cool.

We would definitely recommend a cruise on Victoria Anna to our friends and family.

My travel consultant of your company was fast enough to answer my E-mail and patient enough to answer my question, making reservations and getting our questions answered was very easy.

The cruise experience was excellent, and the cruise exceeded all of our expectations! The service was impeccable, the shore excursions were exceptional, and our suite (We upgraded to the Celestial Suite) was out of this world fantastic! We had our own private sun deck to view China's incredible beauty from. Wow!

Your tour guide, Waldner, and driver in Xi'an were exceptional and the Sofitel hotel was very nice and in a perfect location for visitors.

The Century Paragon was a great experience for us as well, as they balanced the need to entertain and feed  western and Chinese passengers perfectly. The ships facilities were very nice, as the boat is relatively new.

we are back home and enjoyed the cruise very much. From Chongqing railway station we took a taxi to the pier. This was no problem. Thank you for your informations - we had printed them out and showed to the driver. As promissed we got the cabin on the 4th floor of Century Sky. With the friendlyness and service on bord we were very satisfied. We had luck with the weather - no rain. We enjoyed the excursions a lot.

Oliver was on time at the station & we had breakfast at KFC and then left on tour.

From there on until we boarded the cruise Oliver took great care of us.

Our whole trip was  a  great success. Nice, interesting  towns  and  excellent cruise

Our answers  are below:   

My travel consultant was fast and polite, every time  I got answers latest for next day, there is time shift so my questions was sent in your evening or night time. She also informed us immediately about changes in cruise plan, and was able to reorganize our trip. We really appreciate this. Anyway we were happy these arrangements were not needed as Cruise started as was planned.

Pity as these long cruises are ending, we  were lucky to see whole Yangtze. The first part also is indeed interesting seeing these incredible amounts of barges and ferries.

The tour arrangements were excellent, nothing to complain. On ship the staff was sometimes even too polite and eager to serve, 

Absolutely I am willing to recoomend your service to my people who also have an interest to visit China.  At  first I was little bit suspicious to order and pay journey beforehand but some googling and mails with June confirmed me that it is safe to order  and pay cruise

I will give 10+ points to your company, especially many thanks to June for replying my mails and  fulfilling our needs.

Actually your service is perfect :)

My travel consultant of your company is fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer questions.

The tour guides during the Yangtze River Cruise spoke good english and was very friendly.The guide (coffee) in Yichang spoke also very good english, was flexibel about the program and also very friendly. We are only not sure, if we didn't pay to much (148 RMB per Person) for the entry into the "Three Travellers Cave". His Behavior was a little bit special.

Dear Cathy,

We really enjoyed the cruise on President Prime 6. We upgraded to an Executive Cabin which is comfortably more spacious. We also upgraded to the Royal Dining Room which has bottomless glasses of juice, water, wine and cold beer. The food was quite good, especially since the kitchens had to cope with about 300 people!  

All the land content guides spoke excellent English and were so cheerful and made our excursions fun and informative. They took great care of our group of 8 English, NZ and Australians. I think they were worried we might wander away and get lost!

Cathy Zeng, our travel consultant at Yangtze-River-Cruises was exceptional in her fine service to us. Anytime I needed a query answered or more information, Cathy was very prompt and accurate with her replies. I doubt there is a better travel consultant than Cathy. I hope her managers appreciate her efforts and great efficiency. It must be an excellent company as everything went exactly as planned for exactly the prices quoted and paid.

We had a fabulous trip and really enjoyed it.The Century Sun is definitely a bit dated; but it was beautifully clean. The staff were 100% excellent all the way, we could not at any point fault service. The food was fantastic, new foods on every buffet. The guides and off shore excursions were great. My most major issue was out of anyones control; we did not get to do the ghost city as not enough passengers signed up, and that was the only voluntary excursion i really wanted to do!! A pity.

A lot of my friends are waiting to hear back how it went and yes we will be recommending you and the Century Sun.

Thanks for the excellent service and we really enjoyed the Century Paragon Cruise on the Yangtze River. Excellent Cruise with great service & very good Cabins with Balcony and well arranged transfers.

This is a  premium Cruise for international travelers as half of the travelers are international travelers and half are Chinese.

Staff speaks partly English and all tours on board were available in English language which was very easy for us.

We certainly engage you when we visit China again and thanks for your hospitality and excellent service.

Thanks for your service, everthings have been well arranged as per agreement/schedule. Michaeal was keen to provided info. and escort us until the last gate of speed train. Fay waited us at Yichang and brought us to have dinner at wonderful Cave resturant. I would like to thanks Fay and driver to revisit on ship and took me back to resturant coz I dropped my wallet under dining table. The staff at Cave resturant are very honesty that really appreciated me when they refused to accept my reward. China is really change and improve especially for the quality of toilets every places. The last local guide David escorted us in Chongqing and took care of hotel checked- in. We impressed a lot for service without problem and of course we will still back to use your service again for next trip.

The Century Legend was a nice boat with good cabins. There were only 8 English speaking passengers and we were well taken care of by the cruise manager of the ship who speaks excellent English. We were given special treatment with Tai Chi class and Chinese medicine class offered that we didn't see other Chinese speaking passengers. The local guides all speak very good English. The cruise was quite good. The cabins were spacious for a cruise ship and kept very clean. The food was ok. I would recommend they offer dinner the evening of the departure and lunch on the day of arrival - this would help justify the price, which is too high for what is provided on board now. They should also purchase some DVD’s for children.

The travel consultant-wonder was fantastic and responded to all my requests and questions immediately. I would be happy to recommend your company and especially Wonder Wang.

Our Yangtze River cruise was well worth taking. We enjoyed every part of it, especially the part about letting us get on board early as we had had such a bad time with our flight connections and were exhausted. We also got bumped up to a nicer cabin and that was also really lovely.

The tours were good although I think the best one was the first one we went on. It was lovely walking through the forest and seeing the beautiful environment.

Our Yangtze Cruise went like a dream. The transfers worked well & we were able to spend some time on a short tour of the center of Chongqing which we had not anticipated. The Century Paragon was a beautiful experience. Everything was spotlessly clean and well presented. The tours were very good (we did not take the optional extra trips). At the end of the cruise our guide transferred us to Yichang SanXia airport in good time for our flight to Hangzhou.

The Yangtze River Cruise was a highlight of our travels. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the Cruise Director Amanda. The unfortunate haze was not able to suppress the magnificent scenery.

The train trip in 2nd class was fine so no problem. The train was changed to a 14:17pm departure. This worked out well with an efficient transfer from the cruise to the station there was plenty of time, plus we arrived in Shanghai earlier. Caroline met us in Shanghai and she too was an excellent friendly guide with good English. We will remain friends with Caroline.

We had an awesome time in China and the itinerary was great. I will give you some feedback.

We feel in love with Beijing the hotel, guide Randy and driver Mr. Pang were exceptional I wished we had tipped them more as their service was the best of our whole trip please pass on our sincerest thanks to them. The activities and restaurants were good and i liked how we got to pick the food within the budget. Randy was attentive to our needs the whole time.

Xian guide Joy and driver Liu were also very good and the activities enjoyable regardless of the rain. Our food was chosen for us but the restaurant was beautiful and so was the food. Enjoyed the dumpling and dance show.

Chengdu guide is pleasant and helpful and had a sense of youth character. We didn't get to know the driver. But he was a very efficient and safe driver. I really enjoyed the trip to Leshan. We loved the Sunshine Hotel, the beds were the most comfortable. The other activities were great.

Transfer guide Judy at Chongqing was beautiful I wish we had spent more time with her. The choice of the Century Legend was an awesome suggestion and beyond our expectations. Guides at Shanghai were ok. We managed to tour around Shanghai quite easily.

So all in all a great trip and we will recommend you on travel advisor.

I've finally finished my travels through China and find the time to give you a feedback.

Both me and my parents were very happy with our trip aboard the "Yangtze Gold 6" and would rate it 5 out of 5.

- The staff were very helpful and friendly. After they found out that we were from Germany a German speaking employee cared for us. The most important anouncements over the PA system were even repeated in German. - Everything, especially the trips, were well organized. - We did all the trips (even those not included in the package we booked). The one I enjoyed most was the one to the Lesser Three Gorges (including an extra trip to 小小三峡). - The food on board was good, but not exceptional. It was mainly Chinese food; for all meals there was a lot of choice.

Finally, regarding your service, I was very happy how you kept me informed and helped me make the best decision when I was unsure about which boat to chose. I found it especially helpful that you sent me the original feedback by the guests who chose the Yangtze Gold boats before us. We quite enjoyed our tour in Tibet and the cruise.

Our guide in Tibet was excellent and really knowledgeable. Our driver had a good attitude.

The facilities on the cruise were good. There was an extra excursion we had been interested in doing, which was cancelled due to lack of people, but on the first day there were so few people aboard that most people would have had to sign up for it for it to have run, so that was kind of disappointing.

Your service has been excellent. Thank you for always keeping me up to date, as well as giving me a cell number to contact when I did not have any data to send emails. Between Tibet and the cruise, Tibet was probably the highlight of our trip. We had a lot of time to take pictures, we never really felt rushed, and our guide gave extra information and answered questions we had when we went to different areas.

Answers by e-mail were fast enough. Every time that we had concern, you always been able to answer quickly and accurately.

Our guide in Xi’an was perfect. Angela speaks English very well. She likes her job and we can see it. She was always on time, flexible on the schedule and her suggestion as activities, type of restaurant or show were just perfect. We also liked the grand Mercure Hotel, the site was fantastic. Driver was a very good one. We felt safe with him. Over all, a have an excellent guide in Xi’an, probably one of your best.

Over all the concept is excellent. Train or airplane reservation were done in a professional manner, nothing bad to say about it. To improve your service a little bit is maybe try to find a guide that fit with our personality. That could be done in sending a questioner that describe us so you can choose a good fit guide.

The Victoria Jenna cruise was a wonderful experience and we all enjoyed it so much. The bus ride from Chongqing to Fendu was a beautiful ride and was no problem. The drivers and guides in both Yi Chang and Chong Qing were wonderful. The cruise was just great and we were spoilt by the staff. Unfortunately we were the only English speaking guests on board but it didn't matter as everyone was just wonderful and friendly and we managed to communicate effectively and were able to laugh together when we tried out our Chinese. There was only 120 guests on the cruise so it wasn't crowded and it was easy to get to know everyone. I will be recommending you to our friends if they are planning to come to China as your service was excellent and much better than that provided by Australian travel agents. We will be visiting China in the future and would be happy to engage your services again. Do you organise other trips in China with a guide and driver as we like small groups and don't really enjoy big groups?

I am writing to thank you for organising our Yangtze river cruise in May 2015. We had a wonderful time and the accommodation and food were very good. The included tours were very interesting and provided lots of information. They were managed very professionally.

We were picked up from our hotel and taken to a bus line instead of to the boat as there was not enough water to take off from Chiang Qiong. This very short trip was extremely overpriced and then we were asked to tip the driver as well for a 6 minute ride. There is considerable confusion about the transporting of luggage off the bus to the boat and then from the boat to the taxis. It would be much better to include this into the cost of the overall trip rather than to haggle over a few dollars for porterage.

Overall though we were thrilled with the service you and your company provided. Thank you very much.

I would like to discuss the Tibet trip with you next. As I mentioned, we would like to do an individual tour (with a good english speaking guide) and stay at the St Regis. Had one question, would the airfare be any cheaper if we went a few days before or after?

Also, some of my friends told me that sometimes Tibet permit is not approved for foreigners and in case that happens it is good to plan for a back up holiday. What do you think? As a back up option, we would like to plan a holiday to Inner Mangolia or Urumuqi and nearyby area for 5-6 days.

We had a very nice day. Happy and Trevor are a good team and we will be happy to see them again next Thursday for our last excursion day in Beijing.

We also enjoyed our lunch at the Commune by the Great Wall. Beautiful views, excellent food and service. And you can eat for much less then the price you announced. It all depends what you order. You may want to integrate it into your tour plans for westerners or even Chinese tourists of a certain caliber. The architecture of the place is very interesting as well and you can visit a part of the Great Wall in a very private way, without the crowds of Badaling. We even arrived without a reservation and it was no problem. It is not run by Kempinsky (an Austrian hotel management company) but by Soho China. A different way of seeing the Great Wall.

Thanks for the email. Betty and I had a great trip in China and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would certainly recommend your travel firm to our friends.

Our only problems were in regard to the air travel, as the flights from KL to Guangzhou and then to Xian were very late, as I detaiiled in my previous email to you. This resulted in the Guide there not being at the airport and we had to wait about 90 minutes for her. I was not critical of her as it was outside her control., and the changes in flight schedules must have been confusing.

On the way beween the end of the cruise and Ghnagzhou the plane was on time, but the flight from Ghangzhou to Penang was late and was subsequently diverted to Kua;a Lumpur because of a very severe storn with lightening in Penang. We ultimately got to Penang at midnight, 3 hours late.

We are in Penang for 7 days because I am examining medical students here in their final exams.

I will send some photographs to you afetr we return to Melbourne on 15 June.

• At the dinner the food was served much too fast, I guess it was done to please us with a rapid service, however I will suggest that on a “a la carte” dinner they should wait some time between each course to be served. They had also given us the same drinks as the day before automatically without asking, one bier and one red wine, instead of asking what we wanted to drink. This I am sure they also did to be nice, so this is not a critic, just a good advice.

• The staff at the Spa was a bit too pushy, when we had ordered a massage they kept on asking several times during the massage if we wanted more, like head massage, foot massage etc .

However we had a very nice time onboard and have told several friends that they should do the same voyage.
Your follow up has been excellent all the time!!

Sorry for the delay on getting back to you but we were still traveling. Everything was very good for being our first time in China, but as you ask me here are my comments...

For you service...
I'm very happy with your service, contact and fast responses. Also, I like that you were very opened to design each itinerary as I requested even that there were a lot of changes. I appreciate your patience and actually that was the reason the made me feel confident about you and your company.
My only suggestion is that if you knew that it's was our first time in China you could probably suggested itinerary changes to improve the overall experience. For example, if I had known about the Terracotta Army at Xi'an I would change the Dazu Carving Rocks for the Terracottas at Xi'an. Please note that is just a suggestion, not a complain since I'm very happy with the service you provided me.

She was an excellent guide with very good explanations of every place and a good English proficiency. The only suggestion is that she was very strict with the time (she forgot we were on vacation!) but besides that the tour was very good.

The first day she was a good guide since she gave us a good explanation of the Dazu Carving Rocks. The second day, I think she was very quiet and almost all the time she was talking with the driver with very few explanation. At this city we felt that the driver was driving very fast even when there was no need to. In all the other cities the drivers did an excellent job but just in this city we were a bit worried about this.

We were happy with her service and she was a very kind person. The only suggestion for her is to improve her english proficiency since sometimes she had difficulties to communicate with us or to give an extensive explanation.

For Jin @ Beijing
Jin is the funniest person we met in China just after the driver who was always smiling, happy and making jokes (amazing driver!). Jin was an excellent tour guide even that sometimes he spoke a lot and, at certain moments, he was speaking of something different than the place where we were (religion, politics, miscellaneous topics). We really liked him and probably the only suggestion for Jin is to improve his english pronunciation beyond that, he is very kind and he was always worried about our satisfaction (we felt very secure with him).

Sorry it has taken me so long to prepare a reply. Here it is:

We are two "grey nomad" ladies. In March/April 2015 we travelled independently for 12 days in China (Hong Kong, Beijing, Xi'an, Yangtze River, Shanghai).

The tour arrangements were made by Ian according to our requirements and what we wanted to see, and we enjoyed the tour very much. In each destination we had a driver and guide, and they were always prompt, efficient, and frindly and the guides were very knowledgeable. We were very happy with the tour.

Ian answered our emails promptly, and we were compensated when an error with the grade of travel occurred. Our one doubt was relying on a letter for the complete tour, with no vouchers or e-tickets for flights to accompany the letter. However, it all worked smoothly with the guides checking us in for flights and accommodation.

Overall, we were happy with the service received, would confidently use the company again for bookings throughout China, and would recommend the company to others for organising travel in China.

A suggestion for the future: To improve the comfort level of clients booking from overseas, we would have liked to receive a receipt when money was paid, and some evidence that the bookings for flights had been made.

Otherwise, keep up the good work!

1. Your service was wonderful; answering all my queries in no time, giving me detailed itinerary, helping me out with alternative methods of payment etc. I appreciated that. I forwarded your company link to some of my friends too. I am a teacher at a college. We are also thinking of bringing a group of school children as they learnt about Rivers in their social studies. I hope to contact you in the future if this happens in the next academic year.

2. The cruise was wonderful. I had the time of my life. Wonderful food, amazing people, friendly and helpful crew members. And also lots of exciting programs and entertainments.

3. Suggestions: Well! It could be better if we can have some knowledge about lack of public transportation/taxi at the pier in Yichang prior to the trip. Or the company could provide shuttle bus etc to the city centre or airports etc with some charges. The harbour was a little far and no taxis at the harbour. It was hectic. Anyway, we sorted out at the end.

Overall journey was OK. Your company service was excellent. I hope to contact you again for the Tibet. Is it a good time to go in October or in December?

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. We have only just arrived home in Australia.

We sailed on the Century Paragon, departing Chongqing on the 14th of April 2015. The ship was beautiful and clean. The extra activities were fun. The tours were well organized.

I have never traveled 5 star before so how the Century Paragon compares to other cruise ships I don't know but I was really happy and would recommend Yangtze River Cruises to anyone looking for a couple of days of rest and relaxation.

Thanks for your response and help. The boat was very good. The rooms booked where good, but I realize when boarding that there was better rooms and restaurant on the boat. So I have asked to be upgraded to the Executive Suits and to be able to eat to the Pavillon restaurant, when boarding. Terry (the cruise manager) was really helpful. Food and service at the Pavillon restaurant was excellent, and less crowded than the restaurant downstairs. Crew and people where very nice, it was well organized.

All the transfers and guides you have organized where excellent, on time, speak very good English, and very helpful, while giving interesting explanation.

I would definitely recommend this boat and your travel company to friends.

Your guidance and arrangements proved to be excellent. Everything went like clockwork from jiuzhaigou, Leshan & Mount Emei, Guilin Li River & Yangshuo, to the great Yangtze River Cruise from Chongqing to Shanghai.

The flight to Chongqing went fine and we were met by Diana who took us to the old town lunch and the Peoples square with impressive Great Hall of the people and 3 gorges Museum. This was a good visit we were well received by Diana at the airport and she impressively arranged 2 porters to carry our bags onto the President 8, a very much appreciated service given how heavy they were and how far we had to walk. Well done Diana, and she gave us our refund for the AC flight in a very timely way!

The cruise was wonderful with 2 outstanding people on board who looked after us very well indeed, gabby our River guide and Jack our personal waiter who was excellent at “sorting” things and the food was very much more to our taste which was appreciated by the dozen or so foreign tourists we met. The crew were very good and excursions just right. The Shibao Zhai Pagoda and the Min 3 gorges cruise we recommend for culture and fun.

You did us very well indeed and we would have no hesitation at all in recommending you to others particularly those who want to travel as we did. You did indeed offer a thoroughly bespoke service and we appreciated this very much indeed. It is hard to imagine anyone could have provided a better service. Just keep up the good work. Thank you!

I just got back from China after almost three weeks there. After the Yangtze River cruise I joined a tour with my sister and went to Xi'an and Shanghai.

This Yangtze River Cruise Tour from Beijing was relaxing, breath taking and a luxurious delight. The guides in different cities of Beijing, Chongqing, are very knowledgeable. Before board on the cruise we visited the old village "wander" around information and history was provided on the area. By the time we got to the zoo (which was defiantly worth the trip!!) I would have appreciated more local information and history. We suggested to taking afternoon walk downtown for a while without a guide. What a big expensive city center- I thought it rivalled New Yorks Time Square. Our guide spoke excellent, met us again and was very helpful getting us boarded on the boat.

The crew support onboard was mind blowing from the first captain greeting us and helping us to get settled - the serving staff attentive and going out of their way to meet our needs. And the hanging coffins were truly a sight to see! Isabel made everything run smoothly to ensure we met our schedule.

We were sad to have the part of our tour you planed over. Isabel and her team provided us with luxurious and carefree experiences that would not have happened without such a caring, professional and expert planning.

When people ask how was your personal guide tour through China? We tell them it was a trip of a lifetime. Isabel was always very easy to contact and have complete trust in Isabel and her company.

The ship itself was great. Good, comfortable accommodation, lovely views (each room has a balcony) and interesting trips to the shore (I only did one though as I was looking to relax). The meals were absolutely delicious and with a lot of variety. As a backpacker, I'm definitely not used to the type of little luxuries offered by a cruise such as this and I can definitely say that this trip was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. The gorges look absolutely stunning, especially when you're just relaxing in your balcony seeing them pass by.

Really appreciated you and all staff to make this Yangtze Cruise trip as special and great as it was. Thanks again.

We, a couple above 70 of age, went on the Yangtze River cruise in week 44/45 2014 from Chongqing to Yichang with the "Victoria 5". We booked this cruise directly via the internet with China Discovery in Chengdu. Even the ship was not really recommended for foreigners as she is not as young, big and luxury as others we decided to sail with her as we prefer to less passengers on board and a nice but simpler style. Mr. Tiger Wei did his utmost to satisfy our wishes. The same did the Tour Manager on the Victoria 5, Mr. Leo, during the cruise. The cabin was well arranged, the same was the sitting in the restaurant as well as the tours. The food was good, tasty with a lot of variety and plenty. About 20% of the passengers have been from abroad. All the staff was very polite and helpful. We enjoyed the fantastic landscape with the famous Three Gorges. We can say: a cruise we like to remember!

First of all please accept our apologies for the late reply – we came back home on 01st November and as you can imagine a lot of work was/is waiting.

To give you a brief feedback as requested:

The cruise in general was a very nice experience and we really enjoyed the time. The vessel (Victoria Jenna) seems to be quite new – at least everything looked new and it was very clean. Also the entire crew was very friendly and always helpful – the service was great. Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade to the next higher category (from superior cabin to executive suite) which we took the advantage of.

There was a wide selection of different foods during the meals and it tasted good. The 3 optional excursions included to the trip were very interesting – we also went to one of the excursions on the first day to a tribe nearby the dam. We did not go on the other 2 excursions, mainly because unfortunately the weather was not that good. It was rather damp and cool and there was always a chance of rain. However, especially the excursion to the dam was very informative and impressive.

We really enjoyed the time.

With regards to your service: here again everything was fine and worked out perfectly as expected. So thank you for your support and made this cruise an interesting experience and a relaxing journey for us. We will definitely recommend you / your company to any friends that may visit China in the near future.

Hello Olivia,

Our China vacation time is over and we came back to Switzerland yesterday evening. The cruise was very interesting, although the weather was not very sunny, but we enjoyed it. We did not change our cabin, it was quite convenient, but we upgraded to the VIP dining room, to be in a much quiet ambiance for the meals. This was a good choice.

Cherry was waiting for us in Yichang and helped us to disembark. We went to the train station, where Cherry showed us where to wait for the train.

Dana, the guide in Chongqing was very good. She organized a nice visit of the city as planned, and helped us finding a bank, and organized embark on the ship. We were quite satisfied with her.

I would also like to thank you personally for your help and service, and the way you reacted always promptly to all our questions and requests. I appreciated it very much and you deserve our warmest congratulations for your service.

I don't know if we will come again to China, but then we will certainly consult your agency, which we will anyway recommend to anybody planning a cruise on the Yangtze River.

I apologize for the delay in replying as we have only just returned home after a long and enjoyable, if somewhat tiring, one month trip. We took and Ocean Cruise from Tianjin that ended in Singapore on the 24th and we did some visiting after that.

I wanted to thank you for all the arrangements that you made for us. Everything went much more smoothly than I anticipated and we very much enjoyed our trip to China, and the River Cruise. My concerns about over booking of planes were not warranted. We received all of the tickets that we needed and we did not have to bother to call anyone about them. Pickups were as planned and the vehicles that were used were clean and roomy with good drivers. We enjoyed the cabin that we had on the river boat and we enjoyed the tours and the food. It was very nice. Your guides were very professional and helpful In fact in Yichang I asked for arrangements to transport another 4 people from the riverboat for an afternoon tour and transport to the airport and this was quickly arranged the night before to all of our satisfaction.

I was left with a very positive impression of your firm and the service that you provide and I would not hesitate to recommend you to other travelers.

I just want to let you know that I have arrived safely in Sydney in morning and would like to give you some feedback on our experience in Xian and Beijing. I am sure Juliet shares the same view and this is in addition to the feedback sheet we gave back to our tour guides in Xian and Beijing.

We had a very good and memorable experience in both places. Jenny adjusted our original schedule so that we had a good rest from our late flight coming in and not rushing going back to the airport, and at the same time, cover all places we planned to see. It was great to finally see the terracotta warriors in their original location.

Jackie provided us with various options to add to the scheduled tour like the Temple of Heaven and the Buddhist temple in Beijing which had the tallest Buddha, which were both very interesting places. We had a great time at the Great Wall, and the Forbidden City.

Both guides and the drivers were very helpful, flexible and accommodating, and sorted out where there were differences between our schedules and theirs. Both guides were knowledgeable about the history of the places.

Over all, I had a great time and very memorable China trip, particularly the Guilin, Yangzhou and Zhenzen experience, thanks to Mary, Kiong and their friends for being great hosts.

I am in Beijing now. The group parted company yesterday and the rest returned to Shanghai.

We had a great time on the cruise. The deluxe king bed cabins were nice and large. It was the only downside though. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Oliver who met us at the airport was terrific. His English really good and he told us a lot about Chongqing and also took us to a supermarket to buy provisions for the trip. Please give him good feedback from all of us.

We are very satisfied on your services! When planning such a journey on your own – we were very aware on factors like logistics, convenience, security, payment and contact.

The cruise was really good to! Thanks for getting us upgraded – we enjoyed it a lot! The executive suites where luxurious and had an excellent location on the ship. All the way through we felt a high level of service and security – and it worked really well with the “onboard cruise guide” who spoke good English and was very helpful if we had any questions. The guided tour from Pingyao to Xian was really good. Johanna was very informative and relaxed. Both of the sights were really interesting and pick up, delivery and drive was really good.
